FOR THE FUN OF IT

The Glen Echo Folkdancers (formerly Foggy Bottom Folkdancers) started in 1983 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Foggy Bottom. The church required substantial repairs and we had to move, eventually landing up at the Church of the Redeemer. Since our move, the Glen Echo Folkdancers has grown a bit, but we still maintain a very welcoming atmosphere, lots of great music and dancing, occasional parties (sometimes with live music), and, most importantly, great people to share an evening with. Plan to have a wonderful time, learn some dances, listen to some wild music, and meet some new friends. No partner is necessary. No skill is needed. Dress comfortably. Wear soft-soled shoes, if possible. Smile. If you would like to be added to our email list and receive notices of upcoming events, please email Jamie. For more folkdancing in the DC area, go to the links page.

Directions to Brookmont Church

From Virginia: Take 495 across American Legion Bridge. Take first exit and bear right toward Glen Echo. Exit left at Glen Echo, stay right at the split, and turn right at MacArthur Boulevard. Go about 1.5 miles. Turn right at Maryland Avenue and right at (the 2nd) Broad Street. The church is a block away on the left. Enter from the side. Parking is easier on (the 1st) Broad Street, either side of Maryland Avenue.

From the Beltway in Maryland: Exit at Cabin John Parkway which turns into the Clara Barton Parkway. Exit at Glen Echo and follow directions, above.

From DC or Chain Bridge: Take Canal Road and turn onto Arizona Avenue. Turn left at MacArthur Boulevard, pass Sibley Hospital, and turn left onto Avenue and right onto Broad Street. You can get a map from Google or Mapquest.
